Chaos as police, gang crime squad, descend on Kwinana Freeway after incident involving bikies

The gang crime squad are questioning multiple bikies and have seized their high-powered motorcycles following a major incident which shut the Kwinana Freeway on Friday night.

The West Australian has been told multiple bikies, believed to be linked to the Bandidos motorcycle club, were riding motorcycles before being arrested by police in the suburb of Baldivis.

Photos taken at the scene show a large collection of high-powered motorcycles on the side of Kwinana Freeway northbound, some of which were being loaded onto tow trucks just before 10pm.

It is understood that some of the outlaws allegedly fled police before being arrested.

At least one bikie was observed being patted down by police before being taken away from the scene

A WA Police spokeswoman, about 8.20pm, said officers were “currently responding to an incident on Baldivis Road in Baldivis involving Outlaw Motorcycle Gang members”.

“Significant police resources are in the area and at the scene, with multiple people in custody,” she said.

“The community can be reassured that police have the matter in hand and there are no concerns for the public’s safety.”

Main Roads WA reported Kwinana Freeway northbound had been shut as a result of the police incident before partially reopening on Friday night.

Traffic was congested and nearby commuters, dealing with the heavy traffic, could be heard whistling at authorities while driving by.

St John WA they had not been called in to assist police, and or treat anyone in the vicinity of the incident.
