A GoFundMe page has been launched to support Eagles premiership hero Mark Hutchings and his newborn daughter after the sudden death of his partner Hannah Camplin earlier this month.
Ms Camplin, 36, died on September 9 in a Perth hospital, just two days after giving birth to the couple’s first child, Sofia.
Her cause of death is not yet known.
In wake of the tragedy, family friend Rodney Capriotti set up an online fundraiser on Tuesday “for those who have asked for a tangible way to show their support”.
“There have been so many wonderful people in Hannah and Mark’s lives who have reached out asking how they can support Mark and Sofia during this incredibly difficult time,” the page reads.
“Above all, your love, thoughts, prayers and ongoing support mean more than anything.”
A target of $30,000 has been set, with $11,190 raised as at 3.30pm Wednesday.
Ms Camplin was a dedicated ICU nurse at Royal Perth Hospital, and was also part of the RPH trauma research unit.
An investigation into her death continues, with a family member telling The West it could be a year until any conclusive findings are presented.
The fundraiser suggests there is no expectation to donate, and that messages of support are just as meaningful.
“Hannah will always be deeply loved, forever missed, and never forgotten. We know she will be Sofia’s guardian angel, and is already looking down on them so proud of the Dad Mark has become,” the page continues.
Hutchings played 120 games for West Coast, including the 2018 premiership, before his retirement in 2021.
He has since forged a career in real estate in Perth.
The ex-player received a flood of support from former teammates and AFL figures after sharing the regrettable news on social media last week.
“You’ll be the best Dad for your beautiful daughter . . . we got you,” Nic Naitanui wrote.
“Love you Hutchy, always here for you,” Jack Darling added.
The West Coast Eagles have extended their ongoing support.
Hutchings said he was “shattered” by the loss of his partner.
“Her dream was to become a Mum, so it’s been incredibly difficult to take,” he wrote.
“Sofia and I love you and will miss you very much Hannah ❤️💔.”
