Tonkin Highway crash leaves motorbike rider seriously injured

A motorbike rider has been seriously injured in a crash that is causing peak-hour traffic chaos in Perth’s north east.

The rider crashed on the Tonkin Highway in Ballajura about 4.20pm on Tuesday.

A large stretch of southbound lanes of the highway have been closed between Gnangara Road and Hepburn Avenue as police investigate the circumstances leading up to the crash.

Drivers are being warned of heavy congestion in the area and are being urged to “exercise extreme caution”.
