Perth traffic: Kwinana Freeway closed southbound at Armadale Road after garbage truck catches fire

A vehicle fire caused heavy traffic on Kwinana Freeway southbound in Jandakot earlier on Friday.

It appeared a garbage truck driver was forced to tip rubbish onto the major road after a blaze erupted about 10.20am on Friday.

The left lane and Berrigan Drive entry were closed just after 10am on Friday morning, with the Department of Fire and Emergency Services attending the scene.

Videos from the scene showed firefighters running behind the garbage truck to check on the driver who appears to be in the driver’s seat.

Garbage was also seen on the median strip across the middle of the highway.

Main Roads advises that the fire was cleared just after 1.30pm on Friday afternoon with traffic remaining slow on approach.
