Thrilling adventure park boasts world’s longest orb track
The Great Southern officially became home to the largest hydro-orb track in the world when Denmark Thrills Adventure Park opened to the public yesterday.
Nestled atop Mt Shadforth, the adventure park boasts a 600m-long orb track.
It is the only track in Australia.
Denmark resident Amelia Monaghan said the idea for the adventure park and track was sparked by a visit to her homeland of New Zealand two years ago.
“I’m from New Zealand and tourism is what it is there because of the adventure,” she said.
“The adventure tourism is growing at a larger rate than any other tourism sector, globally.
“We are really the first adventure park of this kind open to the general public anywhere in Australia.”
Denmark Thrills is also the first eco-park in the State.
“We aim to focus on a joyful sustainable future,” Ms Monaghan said.
“It is set in nature and we do everything and every step of process with respect to environment.
“We recycled 3000 tyres in the creation of the track ... the buildings are made out of recycled shipping containers, all of our landscaping is made out of hand-made earth products.”
Ms Monaghan said the adventure park was a way to bring the fun she grew up with home to Denmark.
“Our aim is to see people happier in general from this experience,” she said.
“Everybody deserves to be happier more often.
“It’s been a big journey but it was worth it.”
