‘SWAT teams on the ground’: Tactical cops, armed vehicle swarm Cessnock street in NSW during police ‘operation’

A major police operation involving an armoured vehicle and heavily-armed tactical officers is underway in the Hunter Valley town of Cessnock. Pictures taken from the scene show the large armoured truck parked on Cooper St about 5pm on Monday. Federal member for the Hunter Valley and former Olympian Dan Repacholi warned locals of the operation, claiming “SWAT teams are on the ground” in a Facebook post. A NSW police spokeswoman confirmed there is an operation underway in Cessnock. “There are no threats to the public,” she said. “Further information will be released at an operationally appropriate time.”
