Tonight’s $40,000 Easter Cup 3YO SS Pace (2902m) at Gloucester Park is a tough result to pick, given the quality of the field.

Leading the pre-race fancies is Taroona Bromac from the Greg and Skye Bond stable, while Justin Prentice will be confident his reliable four-year-old Always An Honour can make it three wins in a row, despite starting off the 30m handicap.

But be sure to keep your eye on Kiwi jet As Happy As Larry, who despite the 50m handicap, should give the fancies plenty to think about if he is able to get within striking distance.

Driven by his trainer Robbie Williams during Friday night’s win at Gloucester Park, the gelding did as he pleased throughout and looked head and shoulders above his rivals.

But whether he can replicate that effort tonight remains to be seen, as this race will be his first ever start over 2900m.

Punters will also find the going tough in the Simmonds Steel Pace (1730m), with all seven runners capable of saluting.

Capel trainer-reinsman Aiden De Campo will pilot Ryan Bell’s superstar Shockwave, who is tipped to head interstate later this year, given his stellar form in WA.

De Campo, who is a big fan of the horse, will be out to make it four wins in a row.

Others to consider include Bunbury-based I’m Soxy, who has been in solid form lately for trainer Brian Clemens and Galactic Star, who is one of three runners from the Greg and Skye Bond stable in the race.

Reigning Busselton Cup winner Captain Proud will also get a chance to put his experience to the test in the Etch Coatings Pace (2536m). Given his tendency to sprint home late in longer races, he could figure in the finish.

In the Retravision Fillies and Mares Pace (2130m), De Campo and Prentice have two runners each in the field, while Harvey born and raised reinsman Dylan Egerton-Green will drive Miss Camouflage.
