The South West Slammers women’s team will be on the hunt for their second win of 2022 when they host the East Perth Eagles on Saturday night at the Eaton Recreation Centre.

Robyn Vogel’s side was defeated 93-60 by the Cockburn Cougars last Saturday night at Wally Hagan Stadium — a game where they effectively abandoned the outside component of their offence.

While the finals-chasing Cougars jacked up a staggering 51 three-point attempts, successfully sinking 18, the Slammers put up only seven attempts from beyond the arc.

When the Slammers penetrated to the basket, they did give the Cougars defence some problems, which led to 19 free-throw opportunities.

The bulk of these scenarios came down to the grunt work from Tiahna Sears who, aside from finishing with 21 points, collected nine rebounds and two steals.

Vogel was contacted for comment.
