The Storytime Way to celebrate its first anniversary with library fun

Interactive outdoor story time trail The Storytime Way will celebrate its first anniversary this month with a special event at the Busselton Library.

The trail, which runs from the foreshore near Busselton Primary School and extends to Longlands Park in Geographe, encourages families to read, talk, sing and laugh as they explore story panels that are updated every few months.

The Busselton Library will host a special event to celebrate the trail’s first anniversary on Saturday from 11am to 12.30pm.

It will include an interactive storytelling session with Andrea Rowe, award-winning author of the book Jetty Jumping.

There will also be craft activities, cake, a visit from Barney the barn owl from Paint The Cape REaD, Dymocks Busselton on-site with book sales and the announcement of the winner of the Storytime Way competition.

The trail was recognised at State level for outstanding service to community and won the Local Government Professionals WA Community Development Innovative Partnership Award in September last year.

City of Busselton mayor Phill Cronin said the city was proud of the innovation behind the trail.

“Following a trail situated along a scenic coastal shared path and nearby park, 20 storybook panels feature pages of a fun, vibrantly illustrated and often local children’s books — what a wonderful initiative,” he said.

“It’s been great to see just how popular the trail is and more importantly, just how well it promotes early literacy.”

The event is free, with no registration required.
