COVID-19: More South West exposure sites added as Busselton pharmacy becomes city’s first location

A pharmacy in Busselton has been added to the growing list of exposure sites in the South West but the number of Bunbury locations remains at three.

Two new cases were recorded in Bunbury on Thursday but no new exposure sites have been registered.

Coles in Australind has been added, along with a Capel hardware store, a cafe in Dunsborough and Quindalup tourist hotspot Simmo’s Ice Creamery.

Anyone who visited the West Busselton Pharmacy at 170 Bussell Highway between 3.30pm and 3.45pm on Saturday, January 22, is being asked to monitor for symptoms.

The pharmacy is part of the West Busselton Shopping Centre, which also includes a travel agency, a lunch bar and a busy IGA.

The same directions apply to anyone who visited the Shell Coles Express in Vasse on Monday, January 24, between 8.30am and 8.45am, La Lah Cafe in Dunsborough on Monday between 11am and 12.30pm or Simmo’s Ice Creamery on Commonage Road between 4.30pm and 5pm on the same day.

While several locations in the Capes region have been added to the list in recent weeks, the pharmacy is the first site added in Busselton itself.

In Capel, Hardware and Farm Supplies at 93 Capel Drive has been added as an exposure site between 1pm and 1.15pm on Saturday, January 22.

It comes after several sites, including Officeworks Bunbury and the Bunbury Post Shop were added to the list on Wednesday as well as Australind Shopping Centre and the adjoining BP fuel station.

The total number of positive cases linked to the cluster from a Kemerton lithium plant rose to 19 on Thursday, with both of Bunbury’s new cases confirmed as close contacts of workers.

The South Western Times has also revealed four of the Albemarle workers who tested positive are quarantining at Footprints Resort at Preston Beach.

Western Australia recorded a total of 10 new local cases, plus another two linked to travel.
