A not-for-profit service dedicated to helping people with disabilities, injuries or illness find and keep jobs has set up a new branch in Baldivis.

Maxima has 70 branches across the country and works with those seeking work and employers.

Now set up in Baldivis, Maxima WA deputy business manager Jenayah Thompson said the group would advocate for people in the workplace.

“We support them for up to a year after we find them employment, so we are really that in-between between our clients and employers,” she said.

“There are not any other similar providers in Baldivis and obviously this is an area which is growing rapidly.

“We really wanted to be in amongst the Baldivis community, we were in the Mary Davis Library for quite a while and we had a great customer base so we decided to open an office.”

Ms Thompson said the office had been in Baldivis for a while, but due to COVID-19 everyone had been working from home.

“Last week was the first time we were able to catch up with people again, we have about 60 customers at the moment but now we are open we have seen more foot traffic come through,” she said. “Now we have officially opened and are right here we can assist people just that little bit better, rather than just over email and phone.”

Maxima business development consultant Tina Vogler said the Baldivis office covered a wide area and was not only focused on the suburb.

“We cover anywhere from Mandurah up to Rockingham and then we also have an office in Armadale, so we can cover between here and there as well,” she said.

“After speaking with some businesses in this local area, the response has been really positive.

“Because of the pandemic we are just getting back on site, so things are just starting to get good and all come together now thank goodness.”
