The Porongurup Festival is returning for its 34th year to showcase premium local wines, spirits, beers and produce on the border of Porongurup National Park.
The 2022 Festival at Jingalla Wines estate will start at 11am on Sunday, March 6.
Wines from eight Porongurup wineries, local food, art and pottery will be on offer throughout the day.
“Jingalla is going to be releasing some of our aged wine from out of our dungeon,” festival co-ordinator and Jingalla wines owner Shelley Coad said.
The festival’s famous grape stomp will return after it was shelved last year because of COVID concerns.
This year’s grape stomp has been improved to ensure it is COVID-safe and there will be prizes for the best children’s and adult’s stomper.
Great Southern Distillery will lead whisky and gin blind-tasting masterclasses, with live music from Albany’s The Numbats and other local bands.
For the children, there will be a wine barrel train, face painting, a bouncy castle and an appearance by Jamie the Clown.
All attendees over the age of 16 must provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination on entry.
Ms Coad said anyone planning on attending the festival should bring either a hard copy of their COVID vaccination status or download their certificate to their phone, as well as ID, because patchy phone coverage in the area could make it difficult to access the ServiceWA app.
Tickets are $30 online or $35 at the gate.
Adult-accompanied under 18s can enter free.
