Punters are saddling up for another massive Albany Boxing Day Races.

Every year the Percy Spencer Racecourse is flooded with revellers for one of the social highlights of the Great Southern racing calendar.

Gates are open from 12pm and a return bus service to town will begin from 5pm. Albany Racing Club manager Jack Young said more than 2000 punters were set to flock to the race meet.

“I am really looking forward to the races, it should be a really great day with fantastic food and fashion, something for everyone,” he said. ”The weather is looking to be really nice for the day and we have plenty of entertainment for the kids.”

”Our Albany Racing Club members can also enjoy our newly built deck throughout the day.”

Crowds will be entertained with live music from Pinstripe and the day will include the Great Southern Footballers’ Sprint and the inflatable obstacle course for children.

“The sprint will be a really fun event and is a great way to tie in horse racing with other sports in the community,” Mr Young said.

Bureau of Meteorology are forecasting a maximum of 26C on Boxing Day.
