Hospice grateful for gift of vehicle

Albany Community Hospice is the proud owner of a 2017 Hyundai i30 donated by Albany World of Cars.

Community Hospice manger Michelle McClure said the new wheels would replace an older model Mazda and said she was surprised and shocked at the gesture.

“Our old car was getting quite unreliable, so we are so grateful for this new one, which will be used for running errands and use for our patients,” she said. “It will be available to all staff and volunteers to use.” “We are hoping in the future we can expand our services in the community more, and having this car can really enable us to do more than we currently are at the hospice.”

Ms McClure said the generosity behind the donation blew her away.

“It will help us so much operation-wise — it’s gestures like this that really keep us operating,” she said.

Albany World of Cars owner Toni Hunter said the business had given cars to community centres in Perth in the past and had sought a local centre to donate a car to.

“Once I talked to the ladies from the hospice about what they do, and how they help our elderly, I couldn’t go past them,” she said.

“They are so deserving of this.

“We look at it as a way of assisting them in their role within the community.

“We didn’t want to just give money, we wanted to see a tangible result and this was something we could see helping them operate.”
