North Road Supa IGA has won a national award for fresh produce department of the year.

The local store was among many in WA which won awards at the prestigious annual IGA Awards of Excellence on the Gold Coast this week.

The awards recognise the dedicated efforts of the stores and their teams in the local community and were judged on a range of criteria including customer service, community pride, department excellence, brand values, sales, profits, merchandising and the store’s overall performance.

North Road IGA owner Bob Cybula said his team went over and above the call of duty to provide an impressive display of fresh produce for local shoppers.

The store has placed its large produce bins outside the store entrance to create a modern market feel and deliver a competitive edge for the department.

Metcash supermarkets and convenience chief executive Scott Marshall said the IGA Awards of Excellence acknowledged the passion, commitment and excellence stores had demonstrated all year.

“Leading WA stores had delivered an exceptional store experience to their local shoppers,” he said.

“These exemplary stores have gone over and above for the benefit of their local community, staff and the inde-pendent retail grocery industry.”
