Gnowangerup man charged over Albany assault

Albany Detectives have charged a 19-year-old man over a serious assault in Albany on Sunday November 26.

It will be alleged, around 2.30am, the man approached a 22-year-old man who was standing on Stirling Terrace with a group of people.

Police said the the man struck the victim to the face with a clenched fist which caused the victim to fall backwards onto the ground.

As a result of the alleged assault, the victim received a fractured jaw which required emergency surgery.

The Gnowangerup has been charged with grievous bodily harm and is due to appear in Albany Magistrates Court on Thursday 1 February 2018.
