The South West’s biggest city is set to take centre stage in October as leaders, innovators and investors from across Australia converge for a major conference exploring the industries shaping the future.
Bunbury is set to host the 2026 Innovative Industries of the Future Conference on October 27 and 28 with South West Development Commission chief executive officer Cate Brooks saying the conference reflects the region’s growing reputation as a hub for innovation, investment and emerging industries.
“From advanced space surveillance to autonomous vehicle training, the South West is already home to innovative industries that are putting our region on the map nationally and internationally,” she said.
“This conference is about bringing together the people, ideas and investment needed to build on that momentum.
“We’re working closely with partners, including the City of Bunbury, to attract new and emerging industries that will diversify our economy and create long-term jobs and opportunities for the region.”
Bunbury Mayor Jaysen Miguel said the city was ready to welcome delegates and showcase everything the South West had to offer.
“We’re rolling out the welcome mat for investors, industry leaders and innovators from right across Australia and beyond,” Mr Miguel said.
“Bunbury has the infrastructure, industrial capability and lifestyle advantages that make it the ideal place for big conversations about the future of regional industry.
“We’re looking forward to showing delegates exactly why the South West is where innovation meets opportunity.
“This conference puts Bunbury on the national stage, and we’re ready to demonstrate what our region can deliver in terms of partnerships, investment and real outcomes.”
The event will feature a program of keynote presentations, panel discussions, technology demonstrations, investment-focused industry tours and closed-door boardroom sessions.
The conference will explore key sectors driving future growth in the South West, including advanced manufacturing, agritech, energy transition and the circular economy.
Prior to the main event, delegates will be invited to take part in exclusive industry tours showcasing investment opportunities and regional capability across the South West.
The speaker line-up includes pioneering aerospace engineer Dr Renee Wootton Tomlin and internationally recognised inventor and innovator Dr Jordan Nguyen.
WA Government ministers the Don Punch and the Stephen Dawson will also address the conference.
Early bird tickets are now available for a limited time, with organisers encouraging delegates to secure their place early for what is expected to be a high-demand event.
