Blaze leaves $250,000 bill

Albany Detectives and Arson Squad are investigating a suspicious house fire in McKail which caused $250,000 of damage.

Fire crews received a phone call about 10pm on Sunday to attend the fire on Gregory Drive.

The house was completely destroyed by the fire.

A Department of Fire and Emergency Services spokesman said a male occupant was in the home at the time.

“The male occupant was given oxygen at the scene from smoke inhalation and then taken to Albany Health Campus escorted by police,” he said.

The fire is being treated as suspicious and detectives would like to speak to anyone who was in the area around the time of the fire, or earlier in the evening who may have seen any suspicious activity, persons or vehicles.
