A shark was spotted inside the Albany shark barrier

Talitha WolfeAlbany Advertiser

Authorities have eased concern after a shark was spotted inside the Ellen Cove shark barrier yesterday.

Department of Fisheries have confirmed a 1.5m shark, though to be a generally harmless wobbegong, has been spotted inside the barrier at Middleton Beach but it not linked to yesterday’s beach closure.

The popular beach was closed yesterday morning after a tiger shark was detected 116 times since 2pm on Wednesday.

The tiger shark was last detected at 9.24pm yesterday.

The Department of Fisheries will continue to monitor the situation.
