Police have launched a probe into the death of a woman who is believed to have been at Wellington Square shortly before she died.

The woman was taken to Royal Perth Hospital today but died this afternoon.

Police are now in the area investigating the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.

“Information suggests that the woman may have been in Wellington Square prior to her death,” a police spokeswoman said.

The East Perth landmark, which is undergoing a $17.5 million makeover, has made headlines for anti-social behaviour over the years.
