Two WA Police Aboriginal Service Medals among those bestowed at Narrogin awards

Two WA Police Aboriginal Service Medals were among the presentations at the Great Southern Police District awards ceremony held in Narrogin last month.

The presentation on December 15 recognised commitment to policing from a number of Narrogin community members who have previously served with the force.

Great Southern Police District Superintendent Ian Clarke presented WA Police Force Aboriginal Service Medals to Murrell Bolton and Gloria Kickett.

The medals acknowledge the dedication and sacrifice of Aboriginal WA Police employees, both sworn and unsworn.

“I am privileged to present these medals to Murrell and Gloria recognising their dedicated service to the WA community and more specifically, the Aboriginal community,” Supt Clarke said.

The awards also recognised the promotion of First Class Constable Ron Jonas-Green to Sergeant.

Sgt Jonas-Green was presented with his Sergeant epaulettes by Supt Clarke who congratulated him for his service over nearly eight years.

He has been stationed in Narrogin since April 2013 but will soon leave the town to take up a new position as a prosecutor in Kununurra.

Supt Clarke presented a certificate on behalf of the Commissioner of Police to Major Niall Gibson of the Salvation Army, recognising his role as a volunteer police chaplain.

“Providing pastoral care to police officers and on occasion, members of the community on behalf of the WA Police Force is vital to supporting the welfare of our workforce and those affected by traumatic incidents,” Supt Clarke said.
