Rising Narrogin speedway star Blake Palmer impressed against the best drivers in the State at the recent WA Junior Sedan Title.

Palmer produced a superb run in the feature race to finish fifth overall from 22 cars in the State title last Saturday and Sunday.

After starting from position 12, Palmer wove his way through the field, and with four laps left in the 25-lap feature, he was into sixth spot.

Beau Oldfield was in the lead for much of the race, with Jhy Pack, Seth Hinsey, Matthew Thomson, Brandon Buszan and Palmer in the top six with four laps remaining, in a race befitting the occasion.

With just one lap remaining, Buszan passed Thomson, while Hinsey went on the inside of Pack and Oldfield to take the lead and cross the line first.

However, Hinsey was immediately relegated two spots for the pass, handing the win to Pack, who crossed the line 0.056 seconds ahead of Oldfield to take the State title with Hinsey back in third.

Pack claimed the feature race despite not leading a single lap throughout the race.

Thomson finished fourth ahead of Buszan, while Palmer was less than a sixth of a second off the winner.

Hinsey’s night got even worse and he was disqualified after post-race checks, meaning Thomson moved up into third, Buszan to fourth and Palmer to fifth.

Palmer had a consistent weekend in the driver’s seat, including taking a victory in his second heat, prevailing in a thriller over Pack.

In the third heat, he was able to finish third before running fourth in his final heat.

He also placed sixth in his first heat on the Saturday.
