Multiple past winners set to converge on the Narrogin Golf Club for Aglime Sand Greens Championship of WA
Hundreds of players from around the State will converge on the Narrogin Golf Club fairways for the 2021 Aglime Sand Greens Championship of WA, starting today.
The event will run until Sunday, after Golf WA granted Narrogin hosting rights.
The championship is hosted by a different golf course that has sand greens each year, and attracts close to 200 players as the major sand green competition on the Golf WA’s men’s calendar.
The first ever Sand Green Championship was held in Narrogin back in 1980.
The event has attracted a field of 220 men, who are set to compete across three events.
An 18-hole super scroungers two-ball Ambrose event will be played today, and players will compete in an 18-hole four-ball-better-ball event tomorrow before 36 holes of stroke play are contested on Saturday and Sunday.
Some of the best golfers from across WA will make the trip to Narrogin, including two-time defending champion Ryan Peake.
A total of seven past champions are among the field for this weekend’s event, including multiple former winners Adam Davey and Peter Gaby, while Ryan Sheridan, Daniel Negus, Michael Hilder and Rod Shemeld who have all won the championship once previously.
