With a combined 100 years of service between them, two members of the Boddington Bush Fire Brigade have been honoured with life memberships.

About 50 people turned out to the Boddington Golf Club on Saturday for the brigade’s awards night, where Peter Bralich and Paul Patrick were recognised for 50 years of service each.

Association of Volunteer Bush Fire Brigades of WA president Dave Gossage described their achievement as “absolutely outstanding”.

“The awards night was actually catching up and recognising bushfire volunteers for their service and two of them, ‘Pommy’ Paul and Peter Bralich, were recognised for over 50 years of service,” he said.

“It’s absolutely outstanding and also a reflection of what the community is all about.

“Both these guys are still there today helping to mentor the next generation of volunteers.

“It was very rewarding being there on the night to see a community coming together recognising the great service that volunteers provide.”

Mr Gossage said that the two men love helping the community and a desire to get the job done.

“They both always made themselves available at the drop of a hat, stopping their own businesses and employment to go and help others in need,” he said.

“Paul’s a bit of a character and he brings humour and laughter and he’s a bit of a just-get-the-job-done sort of character.

“Whereas Peter, he’s very quiet and he’s just a doer and just gets it done.”

Also on Saturday night, David Thompson was recognised for 20 years with the brigade, while Graham Thompson was recognised for 15 years of service.
