Warriors remain on top of the Upper Great Southern Hockey Association women’s A-grade ladder after surviving a scare from All Blacks on Sunday.

The Warriors notched their seventh win of the season to sit six points clear but were made to work for it by the last-placed All Blacks.

Chloe Buzza, Cara Borthwick and Kira Flynn were influential in Warriors’ 4-3 victory.

Claire Coffey, Zeta O’Rourke and Chloe Grout were gallant in defeat for All Blacks, their seventh loss of the season.

Wagin moved further clear in second spot after finishing 4-2 winners over Williams.

Their fifth win of the season was set up by Taryn Trevenen, Courtney Perkins and Emily Holt and they now sit 10 points clear of Williams, who were best served by Chloe Blight, Suzy Hogg and Tracey Price.

Warriors edged closer to securing the minor premiership in the men’s A-grade competition after prevailing 2-0 over Olympics.

Nick Corner, Nick Tate and Matt Hough guided the Warriors to their seventh win while Shawn Heil, Bradley Staphorst and Travis Shanks were strong contributors for Olympics.

Bottom team Lakers produced a superb effort to draw 3-3 with second side Riffs.

Better players for Lakers were Ryan Johnson, Allan Blight and Graham Treloar while Brock Francis, Dane Angwin and Matt Knott were among the best for Riffs.

Wickepin defeated Wagin 4-0 led by Renae Bransby, Amy Oats and Sarah Oats in the women’s B-grade competition, continuing their strong season.

Warriors remain on top after finishing 2-1 winners against Robins while Pingelly downed All Blacks 2-0 and Brookton defeated Woodanilling 5-1.

In the men’s B-grade competition Dumbleyung remain clear on top after a 2-0 win over Pingelly.

Warriors finished comfortable 9-0 winners over Williams and Warriors downed Olympics 2-1.

Wagin strengthened their finals chances with a 2-1 win over Riffs in the other fixture.

Juniors also hit the turf across the weekend with some close results.

In the upper school competition Vultures defeated Woodanilling 3-0, Collegians downed Toucans 5-1 and Ag Rangers prevailed 2-1 over Eagles.

In the middle school division Tigers ran out 3-0 winners over Woodanilling and Cougars comfortably downed Pumas 6-0.

Devils won a close encounter 2-1 over Woodanilling in the J11 competition and Lakers downed Brookton 2-0.

Williams were too strong for Bulldogs, winning 4-2, while Dingoes finished 6-2 winners over Stingrays.
