Fourth win of season pushes Warriors to top of Upper Great Southern Hockey Association women’s A-grade ladder

Warriors jumped to the top of the Upper Great Southern Hockey Association women’s A-grade ladder after a comfortable victory in round seven at the weekend.

A comfortable 3-0 win over All Blacks led by Chloe Buzza, Kira Flynn and Amy Manton secured their fourth win of the season and propelled them to the top spot.

Ellie Bigwood, Zeta O’Rourke and Lucy Ward battled hard for All Blacks. Williams snatched a 2-2 draw against Wagin to get off the bottom of the standings.

Better players for Williams were Fleur Ford, Kristy Medlen and Harriet Jamieson, while Courtney Robinson, Courtney Perkins and Marli Spooner were Wagin’s best.

In the men’s A-grade competition All Blacks defeated Olympics 4-2 as Connor Page, Liam Sweeney and Blake Page starred in the win and Shawn Heil, Blake Heil and Ben Quartermaine were the best for Olympics.

Warriors finished comfortable 6-2 winners over Lakers, set up by Marcel Corasaniti, Chris Allen and Regan Blyth. Allan Blight, Angus Armstrong and Zak Hatfield were gallant in defeat.

In the women’s B-grade Robins and Wagin drew 2-2, Brookton downed All Blacks 1-0, and Warriors beat Woodanilling 5-2.

Pingelly finished 5-3 winners over Wagin in the men’s B-grade competition, Williams defeated Olympics 3-0, Dumbleyung prevailed over All Blacks 3-0, and Warriors easily won over Riffs, 6-1.

In the upper school competition, Eagles downed Toucans 5-0, Vultures defeated Ag Rangers 3-2, and Collegians prevailed 4-2 over Woodanilling.

Tigers easily shrugged off Cougars 5-0 in the middle school competition, while Pumas won 2-1 over Lions.

In the J11 division, Brookton won 5-1 over Stingrays, Lakers prevailed 3-0 over Devils, Bulldogs defeated Woodanilling 3-0, and Williams were able to edge out Dingoes, 2-1.
