Central Midlands Coastal has finalised its 28-man squad ahead of the Nutrien Ag Solutions Country Championships in Perth later this week.
Coached by Cervantes’ Dan Clarke, the Tiger Sharks are well represented with 10 players named in the side, followed by nine players from the reigning premiers Dandaragan.
Last year, Central Midlands Coastal just missed out on finals, with three wins and one loss, but was short on percentage, seeing them to a third-place finish.
Twelve players return to the side from last year’s squad. Among those are Gus Devitt and Todd Kenny who will share the captaincy duties throughout the week.
Devitt returns to the side as the defending division two best and fairest and a championship all-star after delivering an outstanding performance in last year.
He was also part of an unprecedented four-way tie for the division two Bud Byfield Medal, sharing it with Justin Joyce (Ongerup) and Great Southern duo Morgan Davies and Isaac Baum.
Four more players have received the call up since the initial squad was announced including former GWS Giants player Jason Gillbee — who recently hung up the boots after four years in the WAFL playing for West Perth and West Coast.
Jurien Bay’s Jacob Smith and Josh Pallette were named as emergencies.
Central Midlands Coastal faces Upper Great Southern first up on Friday, July 10 at 11am, then has a quick turnaround with Lower South West awaiting them at 1pm.
On Saturday July 11, Central Midlands Coastal faces Ongerup at 1pm before the day’s action wraps up with Eastern Districts at 3pm.
Friday’s two games take place at Good Grocer Park in East Fremantle, while Saturday’s play takes place at Gil Fraser Reserve in North Fremantle.
The grand final is on Sunday, July 12 at Fremantle Community Bank Oval, starting at 12.15pm for division two.
