In the last round before the finals Cervantes and Dandaragan played out a thriller as the Tiger Sharks came out on top in the Central Midlands Coastal Football League.

The Sharks needed a late quarter surge to run down the Saints 8.9 (57) to 6.12 (48).

Having just knocked off ladder-leading Moora the week prior, Cervantes would’ve been heavy favourites in their clash against the Saints.

But Dandaragan was up for the fight, well led by Anton Scotney who booted three goals to help the Saints hold a 10-point advantage heading into the last quarter.

The lead could have been more but difficult conditions saw them kick 10 behinds to keep the Tiger Sharks well within striking distance.

It would come back to haunt them. The Tiger Sharks found their bite as Daniel Frost kicked three goals in the last quarter to overrun the Saints and help Cervantes qualify for their 27th straight finals appearance.

It was top versus bottom in the other clash as Moora warmed up for finals with a crushing 15.26 (116) to 1.1 (7) victory over Lancelin.

Moora was led by Lachie Glasfurd who kicked three goals along with Reece Mabbs as all of Lancelin’s seven points came in the second quarter with Jackson Lake booting the only goal.

They take out the minor premiership and will face Cervantes in the second semifinal on the 27th of August.

In the North Midlands Football League Morawa held off a spirited Three Springs to all but secure the last finals place.

Having led by 16 points at the main break Three Springs kicked four goals to two in the third term to close within four points as they looked to get back-to-back wins after their breakthrough over Mingenew last round.

But Morawa just had enough in the final quarter, scoring three goals to two to take the 9.10 (64) to 8.7 (55) victory.

It secures them in fourth spot with a win and a hefty percentage above Dongara. Morawa will face Dongara in the final round and it would take something miraculous for Dongara to make the finals.

Coorow Latham had a big win over Carnamah Perenjonias Matthew Burley led the way with a magnificent 10 goals.

The game was over by half-time as the magpies led by 66 points and kept their foot on the throat to finish 19.10 (124) to 10.8 (68).

It will give them a huge boost going into finals having now won their last four games in a row.

Mingenew suffered their first loss against Three Springs last week and were down early once again against Dongara kicking just four behinds in the opening term to trail by 12 points.

However, a four-goal effort from Jamie McTaggart ensured the Bulldogs would not be shocked again recording a 10.11 (71) to 6.7 (43) win.
