A guest at the Bridgetown Caravan Park has left town with more than they expected, discovering a bullet lodged in their caravan.

Bridgetown police officer-in-charge Sgt Phil Nation said the bullet lodged in the caravan was a .243 round — which has a range of approximately 3km — and could have travelled from as far as the Highlands Estate.

He said they did not know where the incident occurred including whether it happened while the caravan was parked behind the Bridgetown Bowling Club.

Sgt Nation said the incident was a reminder to shooters to be mindful of the background of their target.
