Man fined for threatening WA Premier Mark McGowan over Covid-19 vaccine mandate

A young man who left threatening telephone messages for West Australian Premier Mark McGowan was angry about the Covid-19 vaccine mandate but has now had the jab, a court has heard.

Zayvier Tamer Rose, 20, faced Armadale Magistrates Court on Tuesday where he pleaded guilty to making a false statement that indicated a threat.

The phone calls were made to Mr McGowan’s mobile phone in November last year, including telling him he deserved to “die in a hole”.

Rose was fined $3000 over the offence.

His co-accused Maxwell Eyke Czirr is yet to enter a plea and is due in court on February 8.

Mr McGowan previously revealed one of the messages involved threatening to behead him and his children, but Rose was not responsible for that alleged comment.

Rose’s lawyer Michael Tudori said his client was not an anti-vaxxer and had since been vaccinated.

“Unfortunately, a 20-year-old got himself drunk and concerned and all emotional, and the Premier’s number was on Facebook and he rang it,” Mr Tudori said.
