A woman from Hervey Bay says she is in shock after becoming the country’s latest millionaire.
The Queensland woman was one of two division one winners of the national Oz Lotto draw on August 11.
Both she and a man from Hobart take home $20 million each, splitting the $40 million prize.
“Oh Jesus! I’m still shaking,” she said. “It’s the shock.
The woman said she went in to have her ticket checked after it was revealed the major prize had been won by an unregistered user in the area.
“I didn’t think it was me but thought I’d better check my ticket,” she said.
“I initially thought they said I’d won $20,000, but then realised there were a few more digits!”
The woman made a surprising revelation when asked what she would do with the money.
“This is just a massive boost to my family.
“I’ll keep working for now, but I’ll be able to look after everyone. “I just can’t believe it. I’m not sure I can walk at the moment. My whole body is shaking.”
The winning ticket was purchased from Nextra Fraser Gateway Newsagency, which is located in Urraween.
Owner Steven Chow said it was not the first division one winning ticket sold at his newsagency.
“We had a division one winning syndicate in Weekday Windfall last Wednesday – six days before this one,” he said.
“Everyone is just so excited! It means we’ve had seven division one wins in the three and a half years I’ve had the outlet.
“From everyone in the team, a big congratulations to our latest winner. I hope we can sell more division one winning entries so others get to achieve their dreams too.”
Earlier in the week, the Hobart man burst into happy tears when he discovered he had won $20 million.
He said he had just made it into Sorell Lucky Agency moments before it closed to buy a ticket.
“Wow! Unbelievable!” he exclaimed.
“That is life-changing! It’s come at a really good time.
“I’ll paint you a really good picture of what that means for us. We’ve been renting and have been looking for another house to move to. This is like – now we’ll just buy a house!
“I’m also getting close to retirement so that’s something we can look at now. We’ll probably do some travelling overseas too. I’ve always wanted to go to Texas and Arizona.
“Holy smokes! I appreciate the call. Geez, I’m shocked. I’m so happy. It’s just a weight off your shoulders.
“You’re god!”
