Perth neighbours say they could hardly sleep after their syndicate scooped more than $2.3 million in Friday’s New Year’s Eve Megadraw.

A dozen neighbours and friends had been celebrating the end of 2021 when one of them made a quick stop home to check their numbers.

That’s when they realised their band of players were division one winners from the $40 million draw.

The cash will be split 12 ways, with each pocketing $192,000.

“I told my kids, called my husband and told them we’ve won, I couldn’t believe it,” one winner said.

“My husband called everyone over to our place and told them we’d won a couple of hundred dollars and they were happy with that.

“But when he told them we’d won a couple of hundred thousand dollars each, they thought he was lying.

“Everyone was so shocked.”

On a cloud of serious dough, the winner said she was still absorbing the moment and what it meant.

“We could hardly sleep that night and most of us haven’t slept properly since,” she said.

The Megadraw produced another division one winner from WA, an online player, and 17 nationwide. It was also the second division one ticket sold by Ballajura News in 2021.

Thursday’s Powerball jackpot now sits at $60 million. Tickets can be purchased up until 6pm.
