Norths and CBC remain the benchmark teams in the Eastern Goldfields Hockey Association’s men’s A1 competition after they each notched weekend victories, albeit in contrasting styles.

For Norths, it was business as usual when they brushed aside Pegasus, 5-0, on Jenson Holdaway’s two conversions.

Norths are unbeaten after six games and have conceded just six goals while scoring 33 themselves.

Second-placed CBC did it much tougher against YMHC in a 3-2 win that took their overall record to five wins, a draw and a loss.

YMHC are 10 points adrift of CBC in their bid for a top-two spot.

In the women’s A1 division, CBC preserved their unbeaten record by last weekend holding off second-placed Mines, 3-2.

Due to the long weekend, midweek fixtures have been played since Monday and continue on Thursday night.

At 6.30pm, CBC play Mines in the men’s A1 division and the same clubs are opposed in the men’s A2 division at 8pm.
