In a time where there seems to be little good news, one lucky lotto ticket holder will be on cloud nine after scooping up a $188,293 win.

The division two ticket was sold at City News Kalgoorlie for last night’s $80 million Powerball and the owners hope it was a local who nabbed the win.

“We have still had travellers come through the shop but not as many as usual because of all of the restrictions so there’s a good chance it was a local,” owner Tania Parkes said.

“We are hoping it is someone who has lost their job recently, or someone it would really come in handy for.

“Anyone would really need it right now, though.”

This is the newest win in a long streak of good luck for the store, which includes a $200,000 scratchy win in October, and a $3 million Powerball in November 2018.

Mrs Parkes said the store had seen about 50 division two wins in the five years they had the shop, but this was the highest.

“We have been that close so many times, but even if it’s not a division one it can make a huge difference and that is what we love about our job, being able to change lives like this,” she said.

The Hannan Street store is still open, being deemed an essential service by the government due to its paper delivery responsibilities.

The shop has strict cleaning rules in place, will only allow five people in at one time and has markers on the floor to keep the social distancing rules in place.

To help those in isolation, the store is placing people’s lotto for them over the phone, and is also offering to run tickets out to those who choose to wait in their cars.
