Franchise are primed for a big season in the Kalgoorlie-Boulder Basketball Association’s men’s second division after opening the 2024-25 campaign with three wins.

It includes easy points in round two when Olympians couldn’t field a team, but they dug deep to hold off Spartans in round one by a point, and they last weekend enjoyed a 60-55 triumph over Saints.

Franchise’s latest success was built around the offensive output of John Bates, Maui Dela Cruz and Lester Regala, who combined for 39 points.

Michael Ashwin scored a game-high 17 points in a losing effort for Saints.

Also last weekend, CBC beat Saints Red, 59-37, and Spartans Green dominated Olympians, 73-38.

In the women’s second division, CBC, Olympians and Saints are locked on two wins and a loss after three rounds.

Saints’ victory last weekend against Spartans, 48-31, was underpinned by Sarah Atkinson’s 18 points.

Spartans have opened the season with three defeats.

CBC beat Olympians in the other round three fixture, 45-32.

In the women’s first division, Saints’ Chloe Zorzi and Olympians’ Kate Sidebottom are the early offensive leaders with 44 points and 43 points, respectively.

Those teams go head-to-head in Friday’s clash at 6.15pm.
