An Albany-born man has been cast as one of the main characters in a television series set to coincide with Anzac centenary commemorations in 2015.

Joel Jackson will play Australian war correspondent Charles Bean in Sam Worthington's latest production, Deadline Gallipoli, which started filming at the South Australian Film Corporation studios in Adelaide on June 18.

Deadline Gallipoli follows four war correspondents stationed at Gallipoli in World War I and their role in triggering the end of the campaign.

Jackson will star alongside co-producer Worthington as The Age journalist Phillip Schuler, Ewen Leslie as Melbourne Herald journalist Keith Murdoch, and English actor Hugh Dancy as British Daily Telegraph journalist Ellis Ashmead Bartlett.

Jackson was born in Albany before moving to Karratha at age 10, then Sydney to study at the National Institute of Dramatic Arts.
