Broomehill community recognises high achievers

The biannual Ross Thompson award was held at the Broomehill Complex on June 23.

This award acknowledges the contribution of Broomehill community members to sport and community service.

There were seven nominations for the award, which is a tribute to the Broomehill community.

Karen Dye was awarded for her achievements in bowls and services to the bowling club, Jack Batchelor for his achievements in cricket, Jo Taylor for her services to the local hockey club and Great Southern Hockey Association. Kelly Holzknecht was recognised for her services to the netball club and Katanning Netball Association, Corena Witham for her services to the basketball and netball clubs, Andrew Gibbons for his services to the cricket club and Broomehill Complex.

Charles Russell was the winner of the 2017 award for his achievements and services to golf, bowls and the Broomehill Complex.

Kelly Holzknecht and Sara Anderson organised the event, which 70 people attended. The complex was spectacularly decorated and the food, atmosphere and entertainment were enjoyed by all.

Thanks to Bec Webster and Andrew Bradshaw for providing entertainment on the night and to the Thompson family, who provided wine for the tables and for their continuing support of this award.
