IN PICTURES: Katanning Klassic Fours draws lawn bowlers from across the State for third straight year

Sixty-four avid lawn bowlers gathered at Katanning Bowling Club for the third successive year to participate in the annual Katanning Klassic on Thursday. The two-day event drew players from all corners of the Great Southern, southern Wheatbelt and South West. Clubs from the Great Southern region included Gnowangerup, Kojonup, Woodanilling, Albany, and Denmark, while representatives from Kulin and Busselton joined the event. Katanning Bowls Club player Kerrie O’Halloran said the event serves as a fantastic opportunity to unite individuals from across south-west WA. “It’s a lot of hard work in the kitchen but it’s absolutely brilliant,” she said. “It’s a lot of fun for everyone who comes every year and it’s a great standard of competition and it’s good to promote the game of bowls.” Teams competed against five randomly drawn opponents, playing three matches on Thursday and two on Friday. Kojonup emerged victorious, finishing undefeated and boasting the best record of the 16 teams.
