IN PICTURES: Diverse culture of Great Southern community on show at the 2024 Katanning Harmony Festival

Katanning was a hotspot at the weekend with hundreds turning out to celebrate community and culture at the region’s biggest Harmony Week celebration. The two-day Katanning Harmony Festival was launched on March 22 with Friday Food Night providing a delight for the senses and on Saturday a big crowd gathered on Austral Terrace for the street festival. The celebration kicked off at about 12pm with a parade led by the Menang Dancers featuring the flags of many nationalities that call Katanning home. Dance, song and music filled the centre of town as throughout the day different groups took to the stage to share traditional practices, with the Malay Drummers getting the party started. Food stalls featuring delicacies from around the world were on hand and market stalls and kids’ activities made for an afternoon full of fun and togetherness.
