Broomehill Bandicoots topped the ladder ahead of Kendenup after the last regular round of the Great Southern Cricket Association’s Bendigo Bank competition, earning a double chance when the finals begin on March 7.

The remaining slots were snaffled up by Tambellup and Kojonup, who will meet in the elimination final.

Tambellup held on to third place despite losing to the Cougars by nine wickets on Saturday while the Bandicoots and Kendenup eased to comfortable victories.

Broomehill topped the table in style, recording their 11th win from 14 starts with an eight-wicket victory over Katanning Wanderers.

Ryan Chapman’s 31 was the best Wanderers could do with the bat as they were all out for 133, their last three batters all going for ducks.

Lewis Barritt took 3-16 to lead the bowling figures but David Hinchcliffe took 2-25 and then opened his shoulders at the crease to hit an unbeaten 82 off 76 balls as the Bandicoots cruised to 2-135.

Rohan Bignell was 15 not out to complement his 2-25 with the ball.

Going into the last round, Kendenup’s runner-up spot was at risk from Tambellup, but they secured the points and their position with a seven-wicket triumph over Australs North.

Skipper Holly Pearce top-scored with 12 not out for the Lions who were all out for 68 as Andrew Roberts claimed 4-12.

Beau Sobey was unbeaten going in at No.3 in a reshuffled pack as Kendenup made 3-72 without drama.

In the other game, Tambellup and Kojonup rehearsed their upcoming elimination final meeting with the Cougars taking the honours with ease.

With Cristinelli brothers Flynn (15) and Devon (three) dispatched early, it was left to Connor Hawkins to fly the flag for Tambellup.

He made a steady 41 in 106 balls until he was dismissed by Josh Matthews as Tambellup recorded 8-122 in their 45 overs.

There was no messing around in the Cougars’ reply as they knocked off the necessary runs, reaching 1-126 for the loss of only Jamie Young.

Jesse Johnston was unbeaten on 64 from 66 balls.

Wanderers finished fifth on the ladder to miss out on finals while the Lions were sixth, remaining without a win all season.

Green Range-Ongerup won four Twenty20 outings from their six fixtures.
