Gnowangerup fire: Emergency services dealing with serious incident after home completely destroyed by blaze

Emergency services are dealing with a serious fire that has completely destroyed a home in Gnowangerup on Thursday. Firefighters rushed the property near Alymore Street and House Street in the Great Southern town in the early hours of Thursday morning. They received a triple-0 call about 3.07am and found the house fully engulfed by flames when they arrived. It is not yet known if anyone was inside the residence at the time of the fire. A Department of Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman confirmed that volunteer crews from Gnowangerup, Katanning and Kojonup along with career firefighters from Albany attended the serious blaze and it was extinguished by 4.35am. Police also attended the fire and two crews from St John WA were called out. A WA police spokeswoman said the house was completely gutted in the fire and investigations are underway as to what caused the blaze. DFES confirmed there are still crews at the scene monitoring the scene. More to come.
