Progress continues to be made on the new $25 million Mullewa Community Hospital, with the building now fully enclosed, weatherproof and secure.
Windows and doors have been installed and external brickwork and wall cladding completed, while electrical, mechanical, plumbing, insulation and wall lining is ongoing.
The new hospital will provide 24/7 emergency care along with a range of health services under one roof, including state-of-the-art virtual health facilities, group therapy rooms, respite and palliation, allied health consultation rooms and treatment spaces, multi-purpose consultation rooms and an ambulance bay.
The budget for the new health facility continues to rise, with the price tag put at $19.6m in late 2025 which has now jumped to $25.1m.
Health Infrastructure Minister John Carey said the new hospital was on track and part of the wider investment in Mid West health care, which includes the $192m redevelopment of Geraldton Health Campus and a new radiation oncology unit at the Geraldton hospital.

“I’m pleased to see this important part of the Cook Labor Government’s record $5.5 billion health infrastructure investment progressing towards completion,” he said.
“For the first time for many people in the Mid West that they won’t have to travel to Perth, but they will receive those services here.
“This is fundamentally important for our regions, and of course, in addition, we’re delivering on the Mullewa Hospital, which is currently under construction and due for completion next year.”
Health Minister Meredith Hammat added: “Our healthcare staff in the Mid West are already delivering exceptional care everyday, and this new hospital will provide them with the modern facilities they need to continue caring for their community now and into the future.
“This investment is about backing regional communities with the facilities they deserve. By delivering contemporary health care closer to home, we’re making it easier for people to access the services they need, while supporting our health workforce with purpose-built infrastructure.”
This much-needed rebuild has been a long-time coming for Mullewa locals, with a new hospital promised for the town in 2016 under the previous Liberal-Nationals government.
