Olympic FC earn triple gold in Geraldton soccer with knockout cup win

Olympic FC are triple champions in Geraldton men’s soccer, narrowly missing out on winning all four divisions of the local competition.

The Blues closed their season with a 2-1 win in the league knockout cup against Chapman Athletic on Saturday. Agus Hashim and Roy Kibet scored, with Chris Scott replying for Chapman.

In the reserves knockout, Chapman Yellow beat Olympic 2-1 to win the competition. Kumbi Dzoma was voted most valuable player in the league final.

Chapman’s Reece Delaney was reserves MVP. The Blues overcame a young side in Abrolhos FC in the league knockout semifinals midweek in a challenging clash to progress to the final.

The score in that game was 2-2 in regulation time, with Olympic winning in a penalty shootout, 4-1.

Chapman beat Rovers 3-2 in their semifinal. Olympic wrapped up the league title last week with a hard-fought away win over Ugle Fabrications La Fiamma.

UF La Fiamma’s metro team are away this weekend before closing out their season at home next weekend.

UF La Fiamma played out a creditable 2-2 draw with Ballajura FC at home on Sunday.
