A fast-moving bushfire is threatening lives and homes in Perth’s northeast, prompting authorities to issue an emergency warning.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services upgraded the alert level for the western part of Bullsbrook just after 3pm, telling people in the area they were in danger and needed to act immediately to survive.

The fire started near the intersection of Asher Road and Della Road North, and is moving fast in a north easterly direction.

“It is out of control and unpredictable,” DFES said.

The fire was reported at 2.14pm after temperatures in some parts of Perth exceeded 40C, the latest in a string of record-breaking days in the city this summer.
