Police have released dramatic footage of officers arresting a suspect outside Perth Magistrate’s Court over a bikie-linked home invasion in East Victoria Park.

The CCTV shows the man walking alongside prominent criminal lawyer Paul Holmes outside the court before stopping at the Irwin Street pedestrian crossing.

It was then that four gang crime officers swooped, pulling up in an unmarked SUV and snatching the man off the street before bundling him into the vehicle in a matter of seconds and driving away.

The arrest played out in front of dozens of shocked onlookers, including Mr Holmes who was seen raising his hands as armed police grabbed the accused man.

Mr Holmes said the man taken away was not his client and he was shocked by how the arrest happened.

“I was leaving the court house and heading back to the office after an appearance,” Mr Holmes said.

“Next minute there is a dark coloured SUV and three armed police. It all happened so very quickly.

“Next minute I was confrornted and they arrested the person next to me.”

Bizarrely, the arrest played out as three other people arrested over the incident were inside the court building waiting to appear.

The court was later told police would allege four people with links to the Comanchero bikie gang — two of them allegedly armed with guns — invaded the Kent Street home at about 6pm last night before attacking a 38-year-old man, who suffered facial injuries.

Police said the group aimed a firearm at the man’s head before threatening him and firing the gun inside the home.

Comanchero member James McCorry, 37, accused drug dealer Gus Chetkovich, 31, and ex-V8 grid girl Lauren Kershaw, 29, were all remanded in custody ahead of their next court appearances.

The man arrested in the footage has not been charged.

At a press conference today, acting detective superintendent Gordon Fairman, of the serious and organised crime division, remained tight-lipped about how the victim and the intruders were linked or if they were known to each other.
