Press card of Maxwell likely a fake, German union says

A press card ostensibly issued by the German Journalists' Union to Jeffrey Epstein confidante Ghislaine Maxwell is probably a fake, the Verdi trade union says in Berlin.
A copy of the International Press Card has turned up in the Epstein documents recently released by the US Department of Justice.
The document's number differed from other press cards issued in 2015, Verdi said.
"We are thus assuming a counterfeit IPC. We reserve the right to take the usual legal steps in such cases," it said.
The German Journalists' Union (DJU) is part of Verdi, a large services trade union.

The copies found in the Department of Justice files show the front of the IPC, with a photo of Maxwell and her name.
A press card assists in providing access for the holder to official bodies and government ministries as well as to events and emergency situations.
Maxwell is serving a 20-year sentence for sex-trafficking.
She was found guilty in 2022 of procuring young women and girls for Epstein.
Epstein died in his New York jail cell in 2019 at the age of 66.
New York City's medical examiner called the death a suicide.
