Five people arrested after car stolen at knife-point in Leederville overnight

Five people, including a 14-year old girl, have been arrested after a man’s car was stolen at knife-point at around 11pm in Leederville last night.

Police say the group threatened the man with a knife, before two of them took off in the man’s Mercedes, sparking a police chase.

The chase then came to a crashing end when the car ploughed into a house on Alexander Drive in Rivervale.

The 29-year-old male driver and his 14-year-old female passenger were arrested at the scene.

The three other members of the group, who fled the scene, were arrested a short time later near the Leederville train station.

Police expect to charge the five people involved in the crime spree later today.

The Department of Emergency Services were called in to assess the damage to the house.
