Woodlands serious assault: Man charged after woman left fighting for life in hospital after alleged attack

A woman is fighting for her life in hospital after she was seriously assaulted in Perth’s northern suburbs in the early hours of Saturday morning. St John WA paramedics found the 44-year-old woman injured outside an address on Teakwood Avenue in Woodlands about 1am. Police say the woman suffered a serious injury to her abdomen in the horrific attack, and she was rushed to Royal Perth Hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries, where she remains in a critical condition. Paramedics at the scene also assessed a 36-year-old man who had injuries to his hands. All parties were known to each other, police said. Police found and arrested a second man, 30, at a nearby residence. He has since been charged with one count of wounding or causing grievous bodily harm with intent. The 30-year-old was also charged with two additional offences over a separate incident allegedly occurring at a pharmacy in Woodlands on January 23. He was charged with criminal damage or destruction of property and trespassing. He was refused bail and will appear before Perth Magistrates Court on Sunday.
