Santosh Kumar Boojhawon: University student set to face trial accused of murdering Richard Bezant in Hocking

A university student is fighting accusations he murdered a 58-year-old man in Perth’s north. Santosh Kumar Boojhawon, 27, allegedly stabbed Richard Bezant in the neck at a home on Dimitrios Court, Hocking, on the morning of October 14. Police said both men were known to each other, alleging the accused arrived at the property about 6.35am and inflicted “significant” stab wounds during an altercation. Mr Bezant was rushed to Joondalup Health Campus but could not be saved. Mr Boojhawon fronted Stirling Gardens Magistrates Court via videolink from the maximum-security Casuarina Prison on Wednesday and entered a not guilty plea. He will face the Supreme Court of WA for the first time on April 20. Mr Boojhawon’s locked Instagram profile says he is originally from Mauritius and had pursued studies at Curtin University.
