Three deaths were reported in the daily update — two women in their 90s and a man in his 80s — dating back to July 6, bringing the State’s toll from the virus to 448.

The Australian Medical Association WA had called for a return of mandatory mask wearing across the State once hospitalisations hit 350, but Health Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson and Premier Mark McGowan have resisted.

A State Government advertisement, however, has urged West Australians to wear a mask indoors.

And the Premier, who previously described this winter as one of the hardest WA had ever faced, confirmed on Sunday that he would be putting on his mask “as appropriate”, saying it was “the right thing to do”.

WA has recorded 1,010,424 cases since the pandemic began and there are currently 36,491 active cases in the State.
